Yarn Store 7: Dreams Yarnshoppe

Dreams Yarnshoppe is a yarn institution in Manila (if not, the entire Philippines!). If you haven't been to this store, then you're not a legit crocheter! Just kidding! :p

I remember coming to this store for the first time back in 2004, I think - back when they had their store in Glorietta 2 or 3. I almost fell to my knees when I discovered this store. My heart beat so fast at the sight of so much yarn. It opened me up to a new world of yarn. Because up until then, I think, I thought you can only use the commercially available mercerized cotton for crochet. Dreams Yarnshoppe introduced me to mohair, silk, wool, acrylic, and so much more!
At this age of sprawling online yarn stores, there is NOTHING like entering a store full of different kinds of yarn and actually seeing and feeling them for yourself. There's nothing like asking the store attendant about what you can do with the yarn you're holding and imagining it becoming real while you're holding it. And of course, there's nothing like standing in front of that amazing wall full of yarn and being confused where to look first. You just don't know how to process the sight of those skeins and balls!
Want to see more yarn!?!? Click the link below for more!

Dreams Yarnshoppe has a variety of yarn (obviously). You get local and imported ones. The amazing wall you can see above is made up mostly of imported ones. This is the store if you want to treat yourself to some awesome yarn or if you want to make a special project. These yarn may be expensive, but they're worth it if you know what you can do with them. Imagine making a scarf or a shawl for a loved one out of a silk yarn you bought from this store!
Here are just some of the specialty yarn they carry: [L-R] Spettacolo Acrylic Wool at P495/skein (180 m/skein), Cascade Bollicine Mohair at P750/ball (300 m/ball), and Cascade Pima Silk at P300/skein (109 yds/skein).
There's just so much of them!
They also sell patterns...and more yarn!
Don't be deceived by the seemingly narrow space of the store. It's packed with so much things a crocheter can use to complete a project. They sell hooks and other notions like tapestry needles, stitch markers, pompom makers and so much more. Take a look at this wall on the left side of the store!
I saw this crochet hook set with a case. It also has a measuring tape and tapestry needles. Perfect gift for a crocheter!
Look! More yarn!
Woohooo! More yarn!
They also have local yarn!
You really need to visit this store. You will be inspired to create!

  1. I have been to their store a couple of times now, and it still impresses me at every visit :) I bought my first knitting needles from them and the large hooks you won't get to buy just from anywhere :) I just wish I had enough money every time I visit so I could buy all those fabulous yarns.

  8. Yeah I visited this store and I was so confused by what you can buy. That is just for the yarns. I am learning knitting and can do simple stitches.

I am also excited to have seen this blog. Nice write up.

  10. Stunned when I first got there! The sole store where I found variety of yarns and hooks. Something just lit my imagination. I'm still learning to crochet and I'd say hands down to all who knows how to knit and crochet regardless of gender. So cool!! Good job guys!
